ABOUT

Dr. Jonathan Michael Jones is a classical and contemporary singer, song and hymn writer, conductor, pianist, author, and ordained preacher/minister. Raised singing and playing church music, Dr. Jones developed a musical passion at an early age and continues to channel that through sacred and secular genres today.
From 2003-2008, Dr. Jones traveled to Europe each year to lead worship for International Mission Board Missionaries’ Kids Retreats. In 2011, he was the pianist for the first ever recording of the Tuskegee Airmen fight song. Additionally, he has performed for notable music festivals as South X Southwest in Austin and has recorded or been a part of multiple recorded albums.
Dr. Jones has participated in numerous speaking and preaching engagements and ministry opportunities including prison ministry. He has been a public communicator on various topics of worship and theology around the world and has shared his passion for missions and worship in worship services, conferences, retreats, and seminars.
Dr. Jones holds the Doctor of Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, the Doctor of Ministry from West Coast Bible College and Seminary, the Master of Theological Studies from Nations University, the Master of Music from Texas State University, and the Bachelor of Music from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, and he is currently pursuing the Doctor of Theology from Forge Theological Seminary.
Dr. Jones has been a part of professional ensembles such as the Texas Vocal Arts Ensemble and the Singing Men of Texas. In 2017, he launched a blog and podcast entitled Act of Worship. He has authored numerous articles and books and is a freelance musician and collaborative artist, worship leader, teacher, preacher, and member of multiple professional organizations. Most recently, Dr. Jones completed a project called The Psalm Project in which he set all 150 Psalms to music; the project includes his commentary on each Psalm. An ordained minister Dr. Jones possesses a passion for biblical and historical worship and believes every endeavor of the church should center around worship. Dr. Jones desires to teach this truth to the people to whom he ministers and does so in his local church context in Lubbock, TX.
